Privacy Policy

This is an English summary. The legally binding version is the German original at it-consulting.com/datenschutz.html.

Protecting your personal data is important to me. Below I inform you, in accordance with Articles 13 and 14 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), about the nature, scope and purpose of the processing of personal data on this website.

2. General information on data processing

I only process personal data insofar as this is necessary to provide a functional website and deliver my services, or where you have given your consent. Legal bases are in particular Art. 6 (1) lit. a (consent), lit. b (performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures) and lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest).

3. Hosting, CDN and server logs

This site is served as a static page via GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P Kelly Jr St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) and delivered through the content delivery network and reverse proxy of Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you access the site, technically required connection data is processed, in particular:

• IP address of the requesting device (usually truncated / anonymised)
• Date and time of the request
• HTTP status code
• Amount of data transferred
• Referrer URL
• Browser and operating system used

Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in secure, stable and performant delivery of the website and in defending against attacks.

Cloudflare additionally processes this data to provide security and performance services (e.g. DDoS protection, TLS termination, caching). Transfers to third countries (particularly the USA) may occur. Cloudflare safeguards the level of protection via EU standard contractual clauses. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. GitHub processes data strictly necessary for delivery as a processor; see GitHub's privacy statement.

4. Contact form (Formspree)

For contact requests I provide a form technically operated by Formspree (Formspree, Inc., 2055 Limestone Rd Ste 200-C, Wilmington, DE 19808, USA). When you submit the form, the data you enter (name, email address, subject, message, and any other submitted form fields) together with technical metadata (e.g. IP address, timestamp) is transferred to Formspree and forwarded to me by email.

• Purpose: processing your request and any follow-up communication.
• Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR (consent by submitting the form) and — for business enquiries — Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR (pre-contractual measures).
• Retention: your request is deleted once it has been finally processed and no legal retention obligations remain.
• Third-country transfer: Formspree processes data in the USA. Transfers rely on EU standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

5. Contact by email or phone

When you contact me by email or phone, the data you provide (e.g. name, phone number, email address, subject of your request) is stored for the purpose of handling your request. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR for contract- or pre-contract-related requests, otherwise Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in effective response).

6. Cookies

This site does not actively set tracking or marketing cookies. Technically required information (your colour-scheme preference for light/dark mode) is stored in your browser's localStorage. It is not transmitted to the controller. You can delete this data at any time through your browser settings.

7. TLS encryption

To protect the transmission of confidential content I use up-to-date TLS encryption. An encrypted connection is indicated by the browser's address bar ("https://") and the padlock icon.

8. External links

This website contains links to external third-party sites (e.g. Twitter/X, GitHub, smtply.hpn.io, irontracker.hpn.io). I have no control over their content or data processing. The respective privacy policies of those providers apply.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)

• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
